I was born in Canada, grew up in Yankeeland and moved to Virginia with my family when I was 19. Once in Virginia, my brother, sister, and I all became lifelong adopted southerners by marrying Virginians and settling in the Old Dominion.
I have been married to Alex since 1964 (That’s 45 years of washing someone else’s dirty socks). We have two grown children, son Brooke, who lives with his wife and 2 sons in Charlotte, and daughter, Elizabeth, who lives with her her son and daughter in Falls Church, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC. My grandchildren are the light of my life. I believe grandchildren are your reward for raising teenagers.
I hold two degrees from George Mason University, a B.S. Ed in Elementary Education and a M. Ed in Science Education. I also have some work under my belt towards a Phd in Adult Education.
After 15 years in the classroom, I joined the world of non-profit organizations working first for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) where I managed a program promoting science education for girls. That led to a position as the Director of Classroom Programs for the National Wildlife Federation. During my science education career I taught teachers how to teach science, authored and/or edited numerous publications, including teaacher’s manuals, presented at major scientific and educational conferences, served on various advisory boards, successfully negotiated for major grant support with executives of such organizations as The Walton Foundation (Wallmart) Abbot Laboratories, and the National Science Foundation among others. Along the way I have had various sales jobs, with such organizations as Sears, and the Washington Opera, where I consistently won awards for sales production.
Alex and I moved to Fearrington Village, south of Chapel Hill, NC in December, 1999.
In early 2001 I decided to try my hand at real estate and the rest is history. I have developed a niche serving the real estate needs of the Fearrington community and am now the leading Realtor® in that market.
Over the years since I have been practicing Real Estate I have been honored with many kind words from clients I have helped. Below are links to a piece about what it takes to earn these expressions of appreciation and samples of some of the letters I have received from clients.
